# Asking Better Questions: Data Literacy 101

InnovateUS workshop · 14 January 2027 · 60 minutes · upcoming: registration on the workshop page

Good data analysis starts with understanding the question you are trying to answer. Learn how to turn everyday public sector challenges into questions that data can help address and identify what information you need to understand a problem, measure progress, or inform a decision.

Through hands-on exercises, explore different types of data, how datasets are structured, and how AI can help you explore data, formulate questions, and identify patterns worth investigating. At the same time, learn to assess whether the data you are working with is relevant, complete, representative, and appropriate to use, including considerations around sensitive information and privacy.

**Tool and opportunity:** Use data and AI to explore public sector questions and identify potential insights.
**Risk and responsibility:** Assess whether the underlying data is appropriate, reliable, representative, and safe to use.
