This session provides guidance on developing robust policies for AI usage within a government setting. The session provides a framework for structuring a comprehensive AI use policy, including security, privacy, transparency, equity, accountability and oversight, and effectiveness. Through case studies and policy examples, attendees will learn how to draft comprehensive AI use policies that protect clients, increase efficiency, and maintain public trust.

  1. Draft a comprehensive AI use policy that addresses security, privacy, and equity considerations specific to a government setting.

  2. Apply real-world case studies and policy examples to identify best practices and common pitfalls when implementing AI governance frameworks.

  3. Balance operational efficiency with public accountability by building oversight and transparency mechanisms into AI use policies.
