To Post or Not to Post: The Highs and Lows of Government Social Media
Led by: Pearl Gabel
Join us for a 60-minute virtual workshop with Pearl Gabel, the former Digital Director for the State of New Jersey, former Director of Video for the City of New York, and current Founder of Grit Strategies. During her time with Governor Murphy’s Administration, she launched the social media accounts for the Governor, First Lady, and State, successfully rebranding the State of New Jersey and earning accolades for strategy and multimedia, ushering in an onslaught of quirky, personality-driven government social media accounts. Pearl will discuss government communications in the era of social media; how to get started in creating your agency or organization's “brand” while effectively engaging and conveying important information to the public, and how to navigate government bureaucracy while doing so. The training is open to anyone with an interest in communications, from seasoned professionals to beginners. Participants will learn about different communications platforms, techniques, and processes and be encouraged to ask questions.
- Learn the basics of government social media: the good, the bad, and the ugly.
- Gain background into real-world examples.
- Learn how to create your own brand and voice.
- Learn engagement and content creation strategies to tell effective stories and convey important information.
