What Gets Measured Gets Done: Unlocking City-Level Health Data for Smarter Decisions

Led by: Neil Kleiman & Samantha Breslin

What gets measured gets acted on. That phrase has never been more important—especially at the local level. There are all kinds of actions, policy debates, and program shifts happening nationally, but in cities across America, getting a clear handle on precisely what is taking place has become more critical than ever. That’s where the City Health Dashboard comes in.

The Dashboard offers free data on 45+ measures of health, like Life Expectancy and Diabetes, and the drivers of health, like Broadband Connection and Unemployment, to over 1,200 cities in all 50 states. In this exclusive event for InnovateUS, participants will explore this exciting, interactive tool and learn how they can use it to foster meaningful dialogue with colleagues, policymakers, and constituents, drive informed decision-making, and create targeted interventions that address specific health and equity needs. The webinar will also provide practical skills for how to better incorporate data into your work.

  • Understand how to access and interpret city and neighborhood-level health data using the City Health Dashboard

  • Explore practical strategies for integrating data into your organization’s existing workflows

  • Learn how to apply Dashboard insights to support informed decision-making
