Amplify: Mastering Public Communication in the AI Age Series
About the Series
Public communication is changing. Residents increasingly get information from different platforms, expect faster responses, and want information that is relevant, understandable, and easy to act on. At the same time, public-sector communicators must explain increasingly complex policies, programs, and technologies, including AI, while reaching audiences with different needs, interests, and communication preferences.
This workshop series continues InnovateUS’s Amplify: Mastering Public Communication in the Age of AI workshop series and will help public-sector professionals communicate clearly, credibly, and effectively.
Building on foundational skills from previous seasons, this series turns toward harder challenges: how to reach audiences who no longer share a common information environment, how to explain what government is doing with AI in ways that build rather than erode trust, and how to design communication that genuinely works for everyone.
Through expert-led workshops and hands-on coaching, participants will develop practical strategies for navigating fragmentation, demystifying algorithmic decision-making, and building more equitable outreach. These skills are increasingly essential for anyone working in public communication today.
By the end of this series, participants will be able to:
- Develop communication strategies that reach audiences across multiple platforms and channels.
- Explain complex policies, programs, and technologies in ways that are clear, accurate, and easy to understand.
- Use plain language, multilingual communication, and audience-centered design techniques to improve public engagement.
- Evaluate how AI tools can support communication, translation, accessibility, and audience engagement while recognizing their limitations.
- Design communication approaches that improve transparency, responsiveness, and public understanding.
