2024 in review: InnovateUS's year of impact and innovation

By Jess Silverman

As we reflect on 2024 and enter the new year, InnovateUS is proud to share the impact we have made in advancing digital skills and innovation across the public sector. This year marked significant growth in our reach, programming, and commitment to making innovation skills and AI accessible to public service professionals worldwide.

Our global impact

In 2024, InnovateUS reached over 50,000 learners globally with our programming, creating a diverse community of public service innovators equipped with the tools and knowledge to drive positive change in their organizations.

State and local governments across the country also announced partnerships with InnovateUS this year to mandate our training in their jurisdictions for their workforce, including California, Maryland, Montgomery County (MD), Pennsylvania, and Ohio

Finally, Google.org granted InnovateUS $5 million this year to continue to expand our AI offerings to 100,000 public sector professionals across the country.

Our 2024 workshops

Our team hosted 70 free workshops focused on digital transformation, innovation strategies, and artificial intelligence applications. These interactive sessions engaged more than 10,000 live participants, providing hands-on learning experiences and fostering a collaborative environment for public sector professionals to share challenges and solutions.

Our workshops covered essential topics ranging from practical applications of generative AI in government operations and ethical AI implementation to human-centered design principles and behavioral science approaches in policy-making. Sessions explored crucial areas such as data quality management, cybersecurity practices, public-private partnerships, and innovative community engagement strategies. We dedicated significant attention to emerging technologies and their impact on public service delivery, while also addressing fundamental aspects of organizational transformation through collaborative decision-making and digital accessibility.
