Creating psychological safety
Led by: Anita McGahan
Ever experience a sinking feeling that the leaders of your organization are committed to a course of action that is doomed to fail? The commitment may be so great that your boss is inclined to get irritated and even angry at anybody that disagrees. Yet you know that what a planned action is not going to go well. If so, then this session is for you. It’s also for you if you’re a leader who is frustrated that you’re not getting good information from your team about what may go wrong if you stick with the path you’re on.
Psychological safety is essential for achieving optimum performance in any organization. In this session, you will be exposed to frontier research on what psychological safety truly involves. Whether you are the boss, a subordinate, or a specialized expert, you can cultivate psychological safety on your team and use it to drive toward better decisions and more effective outcomes.
Participants will:
-
Understand what psychological safety is and why it is essential for stronger team performance, better decision-making, and more effective outcomes.
-
Identify behaviors and team dynamics that prevent people from speaking up, sharing concerns, or offering critical information when it matters most.
-
Learn practical strategies for cultivating psychological safety across roles, whether leading a team, contributing as a colleague, or advising as a subject-matter expert.
